It’s curious how people go through life without appreciation of something as simple as a stretch. When one wakes up in the morning, the whole body just stretches out and produces that nice feeling. It truly goes unnoticed until one can’t do so anymore.
This painting was inspired by the inability to stretch while recovering after surgery. When the body automatically starts to stretch upon waking up in the morning, but it must be stopped due to pain. This experience made Oksana really appreciate the sweetness of the morning stretch.
Most life experiences influence artist’s work indirectly and in a very subtle way. However, this painting is the direct outburst of emotions and feelings. It’s a painful, yet dear imprint on life itself that is now immortalized in the form of paint upon canvas.
